Job Description

  • Receiving and passing information to central dispatch will be the responsibility of the candidate.
  • The candidate will be in charge of operating and driving straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and supplies.
  • The candidate must be a member of a two-person team or convoy when driving.
  • The candidate will be in charge of inspecting tires, lighting, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment as well as managing the state of the vehicle.
  • The candidate will be in charge of keeping track of cargo, service hours, mileage traveled, and fuel consumption.
  • The candidate will be in charge of vehicle inspections before, during, and after each journey, as well as managing all components of the vehicle.
  • The candidate will be expected to do emergency repairs on the side of the road.
  • Brake adjustments will be required of the candidate.
  • Tarping and cargo safety and security will be the responsibility of the candidate.
  • It will be expected of the candidate to transport and handle hazardous products.
  • On a daily basis, the candidate will evaluate cars for cleanliness, mechanical items, and safety issues, as well as execute preventative maintenance.

  • The candidate should be able to use GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigational devices.
  • The candidate should be familiar with trip recorders (on-board computers) and Citizens Band (CB) radios.
  • A clean driving record is required, with no at-fault accidents or traffic tickets.
  • The individual must be able to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced atmosphere.
  • The applicant must be able to work under duress.
  • The candidate must have a keen sense of detail.
  • On a regular basis, the candidate should be expected to complete repetitious duties.
  • The individual should be expected to carry big loads on a regular basis.
  • The individual must be willing to work in a sitting position for long periods of time.
